Yahoo! Australia & NZ and NetRegistry to Offer Free AU.COM Web Addresses to New Users of Yahoo! Store SYDNEY, October 17, 2001 Yahoo! Australia & NZ and NetRegistry today launch a free web address service worth $160, available to the first 2,000 customers who trial a local Yahoo! Store. The web address eg: www.CompanyName.au.com, will point to the online store free for 12 months. Yahoo! Store (http://store.yahoo.com.au) is an economical, easy to use store building and hosting tool, currently used by more than 12,000 businesses around the world. In Australia, it is used by retailers both small and large including The Body Shop, Gowings, EzyDVD and Jan Logan Jewellery. "Setting up an online store using Yahoo! is priced from just $AU80 a month and incurs no set up fee," said Peter Crowe, Commerce Producer, Yahoo! Australia & NZ. "Now with a free web address for one year, it's even more economical for businesses to open up shop on the web." Typically customers who trial a Yahoo! Store receive a website address like http://au.store.yahoo.com/CompanyName. As part of the new offer, NetRegistry will also map http://www.CompanyName.au.com straight to the store, giving store owners an easy to promote website address. "This agreement is a perfect example of the power of the AU.COM domain. Web addresses are one of the few Internet products that are not normally available free, so providing free addresses to Yahoo! Store merchants is a valuable, added bonus for businesses wanting to trial online commerce," said Larry Bloch, CEO. As part of the promotion, Australian customers will receive $160 of free services from NetRegistry for test-driving a Yahoo! Store. The test drive allows people to use Yahoo! Store free for 10 days after which a small monthly fee for the use of the store applies. To take advantage of the offer, people should go direct to store.yahoo.com.au (there is no need for a www). Additional Information: TheRedirector Services being offered to owners of a Yahoo! Store allows the registration of a web address, which is then pointed to another Web address, but remains in the Web browser so the underlying address is hidden. Customers looking for http://www.CustomerChoice.au.com are instantly redirected to http://au.store.yahoo.com/customerchoice, however customers will not see the Yahoo! Store Web address. The usual cost of this service is $162.80.
