As anticipation builds around the arrival of this year’s Academy Awards, Yahoo! Australia & NZ Movies offers full Oscar coverage daily.

SYDNEY, March 14, 2001 As anticipation builds around the arrival of this year’s Academy Awards, Yahoo! Australia & NZ Movies (http://movies.yahoo.com.au) offers full Oscar coverage daily. All the latest in entertainment news, nomination lists, critics’ picks, reviews and release dates (complete with local cinema session times) are available at this one-stop online film fan destination.

Yahoo! Australia & NZ Movies provides film and celebrity lovers with the opportunity to predict who will take home the shiny golden bodies known as Oscars. . In a celluloid take on footy tipping, fans can compete against friends, family, co-workers and others in the Yahoo! Australia & NZ interactive competition known as the ‘Oscars Pick ‘Em Game.’

"The Oscars Pick ‘Em Game is about shamelessly diving head first into the hype surrounding the notion of celebrity and the Academy Awards and having an absolute ball doing so!" Rachel Watt, Senior Producer of Yahoo! Australia & NZ said.

Each player in the Yahoo! Australia & NZ Movies Oscar Pick ‘Em Game, is given the opportunity to select the winners of this year’s 23 main categories. For every correct answer, 100 points are added to the player’s total score. The player with the largest number of points in each group is the winner.

"The game is fun for film and celebrity fans alike, it calculates scores and user rankings as well as providing a variety of online services dedicated to providing tip for the cautious punter."

In addition to deciphering who’s set to take the guernsy, Yahoo! Australia & NZ invites the more frivolous player to lend a hand at picking Russell Crowe’s Academy Awards date - will it be his mum, a nice local girl from Coffs, Jodie Foster, Nicole Kidman or could it be an unknown starlet?

Once again, this part of the Oscars poll is about having fun. Swimming in the omnipresent sea of celebrity goss and trivia and adding your two cents worth. It’s a great opportunity for fans to play with like-minded people in an environment that celebrates light-hearted humour and fun.

"It’s impossible to stay away from this kind of hype, it’s impossible to avoid - the Academy Awards are everywhere. The fantastic thing about the Oscar Pick ‘Em Game is that it enables the general public to voice their opinion. It’s the closest the Academy Awards is going to get to a people’s choice!" Rachel added.

The Yahoo! Australia & NZ comprehensive coverage of this year’s Oscars will provide visitors with a virtual front row seat at the Award Ceremony. The interactive nature of the destination is a perfect example of how much the web can enhance traditional television entertainment.

Send fellow moviegoers a Yahoo! Australia & NZ Greeting of your favourite star or for something incredibly swish, why not invite your friends to a movie with a Yahoo! Australia & NZ Invite!?

With only limited sleeps to go before the Award Ceremony on March 25, 2001, cinema and celebrity fans are encouraged to join in the fun and pick the winners.
