Peter Crowe, Senior Commerce Producer, Yahoo! Australia & NZ said the internet company is excited about being involved in the "Red Cross Calling" Appeal 2001.

"It's fantastic that we're able to use our media to help charities like the Red Cross," he said.

"Through the charity auction program, we're able to help not-for-profits reach a large, interested, local and global audience. That's incredibly positive as it means the charity can raise funds as well as awareness. It's great for our users too as they get to bid on some really unique items."

Since the launch of Yahoo! Australia & NZ Auctions, the internet company has run charity auctions for organisations as diverse as The Heart Foundation, Child Flight, Starlight Children's Foundation and the RSPCA and has helped to raise many thousands of dollars for worthy causes.

The "Red Cross Calling" Appeal runs every year through the month of March. The money raised in each State of Australia, funds the local Red Cross programs and services in that State.
