Yahoo! Australia & NZ Chat to Host Chat Events with the Stars of Star Trek and SOLD.com.au Hosting Special Star Trek Memorabilia Auctions SYDNEY, May 13, 2001 Star Trek mania is set to hit Australia over the coming weeks as the Star Trek Convention (Holodiction Odyssey 2001) travels to major cities. For fans unable to make it to the events (and for those who just can't get enough!), Yahoo! Australia & NZ is proud to be hosting a number of chat events with the stars. In addition, online auction site SOLD.com.au will be hosting special Star Trek memorabilia auctions, as well as offering a unique "Star Trek Weekend Convention Package". MONDAY, JUNE 4 at 5pm AEST Tim has been acting for 22 years. For the past 5 years of those years, Tim has been portraying Tuvok on Star Trek: Voyager. Lieutenant Tuvok is a Vulcan Security Officer and Chief Tactical officer on the Voyager Bridge. Born to a military family in Washington DC, actor Tim Russ was raised on Air Force bases around the world. He and his younger brother and sister lived in the Orient and the Middle East before his family settled in Sacramento. Russ's first professional job was an appearance in a PBS Masterpiece Theater Production while he was still in college. He began acting full time 8 years later in 1985. His extensive TV and film experience before Star Trek includes roles such as Sam Jones' computer-whiz compadre in NBC's The Highway Man," the Answering Machine Guy in the NBC's sitcom The People Next Door; recurring part in Arresting Behavior, the NBC pilot Journey To The Centre Of The Earth; guest star on such shows as Sea Quest, an honor warden in Fire With Fire. Russ' Star Trek roles include Tuvok in Star Trek: Voyager, Tuvok (from a parallel universe) Star Trek: DS9, T'Kar, a klingon mercenary in several episodes of Star Trek:DS9, a humanoid terrorist in Star Trek:TNG, a Starfleet tactical officer in Star Trek: Generations.
TUESDAY JUNE 5 at 5pm AEST Garrett Wang's life took a turn when he graduated from his major in Asian Studies at UCLA, where his extra curriculum activities included campus theater and tennis. After deciding against becoming tennis pro due to the lack of Asian role models in sport, he decided to pursue a career in acting. Shortly after his TV debut on All American Girl, Wang was casted in 1995 to play Harry Kim in Star Trek: Voyager. Garrett Wang is the only Asian actor to appear regularly in any Star Trek series aside from George Takei (Sulu).
