DIGITAL CUPID: VALENTINE'S DAY GIFTS FROM THE HEART

Yahoo! Australia & NZ survey shows 16 per cent of Australians have or think they will meet a loved one online

SYDNEY, February, 6 2002 - Cupid is taking over the Internet with 16 per cent of respondents to a Yahoo! Australia & NZ Valentine's Day poll saying they either had already or expected to find their perfect match online. The three polls running on Yahoo!, the network visited by more than 4 million Australians a month show a growing reliance on technology and the Internet to express true love.

Hundreds of thousands of Australians are expected to log onto Yahoo! Australia & NZ for Valentine's Day to send messages of endearment via email and online greetings, download romantic ringtones, create digital presents, buy gifts or find their own Valentine online. Another of the polls showed that 3 per cent of users would celebrate Valentine's Day by sending an email or SMS message, while a further 3 per cent said they might propose to their loved one online.

Meeting the demands of the growing number of tech-savvy lovers, Yahoo! has made it easy for the lovestruck to create personalised Valentine presents by offering an online site to help users create digital Valentine surprises ranging from e-cards to digital photo albums to home movie extravaganzas.
