SYDNEY, 11 November 2002 - With all the hype of MMS technology hitting Australia at the moment - allowing Australians to take photos using their mobile phone and send them to friends by SMS - it's easy to forget that the new technology is only available to select few, because the phones cost a bomb and picture messages can only be exchanged with people who also own the latest model mobile phone. Those who can't afford to upgrade their phone straight away don't have to miss out on all the photo exchange fun! Yahoo! Australia & NZ Mobile's recently launched its new Photo SMS service which lets most mobile phone owners send their favourite pictures - either their own digital photo or images from the internet - to friends as either a black and white picture message, operator logo or group graphic. Yahoo! Australia & NZ Mobile's new Photo SMS is the perfect solution for mobile phone users who want to SMS their favourite photos and images to friends and family or just display a personal photo onto their phone screen. Whether using a picture of a favourite sport or movie star or a group shot of all the mates, Photo SMS can easily turn absolutely any picture into a logo or picture message. Pictures can also be easily edited for fun effects - zoom in or out, change contrast and brightness or add patterns and text to create an extra special personalised logo or message. To send a photo or image to a compatible mobile, simply follow these easy steps: 1. Go to Yahoo! Australia & NZ Mobile, follow the simple instructions to upload a selected photograph on the Photo SMS browser, where an ID number is issued. 2. Once the photo has been uploaded, phone a designated 1-900 number and enter the ID and mobile number to whom the SMS image is to be sent. 3. Presto! The image is delivered by SMS in no time! In addition, individuals using Yahoo! Australia & NZ Photos to store and share their favourite photos online, can also send those photos via Photo SMS directly from the Yahoo! Australia & NZ Photos web site (http://photos.yahoo.com.au). Simply click on the photo to be sent, choose the "Send to Mobile" option and follow the simple directions. Photo SMS can use a range of photographs including digital images, scanned images taken from actual photographs and images downloaded from the Internet. Powered by Big Roo, this new service costs $3.25 per minute spent on the 1-900 number (approximately two minutes per call). In addition to Photo SMS, Yahoo! Australia & NZ Mobile offers a host of services for the mobile phone fan, including industry news, links to relevant Yahoo! Australia & NZ Shopping and SOLD.com.au auction items, Text Scroleys, Ringtones, Yahoo!
