SYDNEY, May, 20 2002 - If your PC is on its last legs, you've been putting off upgrading to a colour printer, have had your eye on a digital camera or you're just looking for a couple of bargain accessories for an end of financial year tax-deductible purchase - the time to buy is nigh thanks to the Big Brand Sale on SOLD.com.au which kicks off on Monday, 27 May 2002.

The SOLD.com.au Big Brand Sale is the largest ever of its type in Australia and will see millions of dollars worth of brand name items go under the hammer with some items starting at just $1 with no reserve. The sale will give consumers the chance to snatch up the biggest bargains in Australian Internet history.

With the end of financial year fast approaching, SOLD.com.au will play host to smart shoppers across the country who want the best prices on computer, IT, electronic and software items, from some of the best known brands in the business.

"The sale will run for two weeks with new items appearing each day and will give shoppers access to thousands of brand-name items at the one central location, at the best possible prices, all from the convenience of their own computer," said Mark Robberds, business manager, SOLD.com.au. "The diverse range of items will include a mix of new, superceded and demo stock - offering buyers amazing choice and savings."

Brand name items that will be available include: scanners, printers, photocopiers, laptops, notebooks, monitors (including 17 inch), educational software, mobile phones, PDAs, digital cameras, MP3 players, and Nintendo, PS2 and XBox games. There will even be column heaters, heated towel racks, TV and radio antennas, security monitors and stereos.

A recent survey of online purchasers on SOLD.com.au showed that 53% of shoppers claim that brand name is the most important thing to them when bidding at auctions. 35% of respondents said that price was the most important.

"The Big Brand Sale will be a haven for brand conscious shoppers as there's thousands of items up for auction made by the brands they know and trust," said Robberds. "The beauty of this sale is that it's also a Mecca for the price conscious because items start at very low prices, some as low as $1.

"Many items don't even have a reserve price so there could be some bargains that beat any bargain-hunter's expectations."

The Big Brand Sale runs from Monday, 27 May, 2002 through till Tuesday, 11 June, 2002 with new items being added to the site every day during the two week period.
