SYDNEY, 20 August 2003 - Yahoo! Australia & NZ (www.yahoo.com.au) today announced the local launch of the new Yahoo!® Search, a faster and easier way for Australians to find what they are searching for on the Internet. Building on the significant back-end technological improvements in relevancy and comprehensiveness made by Yahoo! globally and locally, and leveraging the unique assets of the Yahoo! network, the new Yahoo! Search provides a better search experience to Australians through several new enhancements such as a cleaner, easier-to-use interface, faster ways to find relevant information and customisable search preferences.
Australians can now access the new search product from the dedicated search page at search.yahoo.com.au, or via the new search box on the home page at www.yahoo.com.au.

The new enhancements to Yahoo! Search 4 offer consumers instant access to the results they want. New features include:
- More relevant, comprehensive results including blended results of hand-picked sites by Yahoo! Surfers and search engine results
- Cleaner, easier to use interface
- A new search start page
- Image search
- Customisable preferences
- Free, customisable filters to filter out explicit, adult-orientated content and images from Yahoo! search results.
- Timesaving shortcuts for news and weather
As well as old favourites including:
- The ability to confine your search to Australian or New Zealand sites, or to search the web at large
- The ability to browse through categories for listings, as well as to search for listings

- Cleaner, Easier-To-Use Page Design: A redesigned look and feel with a cleaner, easier-to-navigate interface. Includes an extended search box, improved and more accessible related searches on targeted queries to help users refine their search, a simple horizontal search tab menu to search the Web, Directory, News and Yahoo!'s new Image Search, clearer demarcation of page sections, and reduced dependency on graphical ads and overall greater relevancy of ads and sponsored results.
- Shortcuts to Information: Searches for news and weather return answers more quickly than ever before. For example, typing in weather Sydney will produce a forecast for the location within the search results page in addition to Web results related to that area. Get the latest news headlines by typing news and a topic. eg: To get news on the united nations, type: news united nations.
- Search Start Page (http://search.yahoo.com.au): Designed to complement the Yahoo! home page, which continues to be one of the highest trafficked search destinations online, the dedicated Yahoo! Search start page gives consumers a clean and centralised place to find search-oriented content.
- Get Around Yahoo!: You can also use the "!" to find your way around Yahoo!. Type the name of any Yahoo! product or service into the search box followed by "!". For example, type mail! and go directly to Yahoo! Mail. Type greetings! and go directly to Yahoo! Greetings. Type mobile! and go directly to Yahoo! Australia & NZ Mobile etc.
- Customised Search Preferences: Search in English only or over 30 different languages, choose the number of results displayed per page, open search results in a new window, filter out adult content and more. In addition, users can now save their preferences through their Yahoo! ID to use Yahoo! Search the way they want from any computer.
- Free Adult Content Filter: The mature content filter is designed to filter out explicit adult content from Yahoo! search results. The settings you can choose from are: Strict: filter out mature images and web content. Moderate: filter our mature images only. Off: no filtering.
- Enhanced Search Tool Bar (http://companion.yahoo.com.au): Yahoo!'s Search Tool Bar enables users to use Yahoo Search from any browser, includes new search features such as the ability to search within a web site and highlight search terms on the page.
- Additional advanced features: Access to cached search results, new icon next to each search result link for the option to open a new window, ability to narrow searches by domain, update time, country and more.
- Image Search: Use the new Image Search to find photos, illustrations, drawings, diagrams, logos, Icons and more from all over the Web.

- Localised Searches: You can refine your query to search .au or .nz domains only.
- Categories: For more websites on a related subject, see one of these categories organised by Yahoo!'s human editors, or browse rather than search through categories.

- Top Web Results: These are the most relevant results from across the entire Web.
