Yahoo! Mail Announces Upcoming Global Roll-Out Of 1GB Of Storage For Free

Yahoo! Mail to become the largest e-mail provider to give 1GB of storage for free to consumers worldwide

March 23rd 2005, Sydney – Underscoring its commitment to continually enhance the Yahoo! Mail (http://mail.yahoo.com.au) e-mail service, Yahoo! Mail today announced plans to upgrade the storage capacity for its free users worldwide to one gigabyte* (1GB). The global roll-out will begin in late April, which will make Yahoo! Mail the largest e-mail provider to deliver 1GB of storage space for free to consumers worldwide.

Yahoo! Mail also announced that it has expanded its powerful suite of security tools with virus cleaning for free, from Norton AntiVirus™, in addition to the virus scanning already offered.

“Beginning next month, people can enjoy 1GB of storage for free and take comfort in the fact that Yahoo! Mail continues to protect the privacy and security of their inboxes,” said Rachel Watt, Product Manager Mail, Yahoo! Australia & NZ. “We know that people are using their Yahoo! Mail accounts to send and store more attachments, photos and important messages than ever before,” said Watt.

The 1GB storage upgrade represents an increase of more than four times the 250 megabytes (MB) of space that Yahoo! Mail users currently enjoy for free.
